No, this review would not be more appropriate to a Valentine's Day Internet Prospector! Pinksheets is all about over-the-counter (OTC) stocks, sometimes known as penny stocks or microcap stocks. For more information about these types of stocks see: http://www.investopedia.com/articles/03/050803.asp http://www.investopedia.com/terms/o/otc.asp OTC stocks are those that are trading under the Securities and Exchange Commission's minimum of $5 a share and are, in general, being traded through private dealers. Some of these stocks were delisted from the NASDAQ or a U.S. stock exchange because they fell from financial grace. Some start there and work their way up to the big boards. And some are just plain bad investments offered by the unscrupulous because there are so few controls on OTC offerings. At pinksheets, start at the OTC Guide tab to learn the how, when, why and wherefores of these stocks. Research companies trading through pink sheets on the Company Search tab. Find news, quotes and performance charts on the Quotes & News tab. When you click on one of the tabs, each has a barely noticeable list of sub-topics on the line under it. The site is visually messy, but well worth exploring. You know those annoying pop-ups and banner ads that basically say "Nah nah nah nah nah, you didn't find that person, but we have the information you need?" OnLineReviewBoard took them on and, as they adroitly put it, "did manage to find a few programs that truly stood out from the crowd." If you have been thinking about subscribing to one of these vendors, check this site first to get the real skinny and pricing on three services that OnLineReviewBoard found would stand and deliver. http://www.onlinereviewboard.com/3bestonlineinvestigation2005.htm? For those of you lamenting and resenting Search System's switch to a fee-for-service site for their public records search, here are some free alternatives. Search at this site by zip, city and state or state. The links available depend on what the state offers. http://publicrecords.onlinesearches.com/ The drawback to this site is that you have to search by county. However, each county has an extensive list of links. http://www.netronline.com/public_records.htm Easier access to statewide record sites, but less access to county level information than the previously listed sites. Links to state, county, and city sites, state occupational licensing boards, military and federal sites: http://www.brbpub.com/pubrecsites.asp?h=1
