      FREE MANAGEMENT LIBRARY

Developed by Carter McNamara of Authenticity Consulting and hosted by The Management Assistance Program, this library offers information on everything from advertising to volunteer management. I didn't check out everything, but found the ethics, employee management, board of directors and volunteers sections interesting and relevant. The communication section offers samples of meeting minutes, tips to improve your writing and a plethora of other helpers. If the site doesn't have the information, it links to many sites that do. The main site is:

      http://www.mapnp.org/library/

Rather than navigate through the site's layers of detail, you may want to cut to the chase and go directly to the site index. You may have to click on several links to move from simple to complex explanations for some topics.

      GRANT PROPOSALS

For those of you who support the proposal writer -- or do the writing yourself -- here are couple of helpful sites.

      Writing Successful Grant Proposals

Put together by Cassie McVeety, the director of regional development and campus advancement at Washington State University, Vancouver, this short intro to proposal writing clearly states the basic process.

      Project Director's Handbook

Southern Oregon University did a nice job on its internal guide to proposals. While specific to SOU, it provides a good example of how to set up your proposal submission process for consistency and explains which elements a proposal should include.

The Foundation Center's On-line Orientation: The Grantseeking Process

This is a very basic (and I mean very) intro to the grant process and proposal basics. It also promotes -- but does not push -- FC's products and seminars.

More detail on proposal writing is available in FC's "A Proposal Writing Short Course" at:
