Another offering from enotes.com, this site provides very brief to somewhat detailed corporate backgrounders on 1,676 companies from around the world. The companies are in alphabetical order. Histories include corporate address, phone and Web site.

ABBREVIATIONS FOR FORMS OF COMPANY INCORPORATION
If you click on the resource tab of the International Directory of Company Histories, there is a link to the very nifty Abbreviations for Forms of Company Incorporation, which gives both the full text for the abbreviation (unfortunately in the native language) and the country where businesses use the abbreviation.

But at least you can find out which language you will need to translate the full text of the company type at Fagan Finder's Translation Wizard when flummoxed by the appendage GmbH or mystified by the tao of ZAO.
