I was catching up on my reading in Searcher, "the magazine for database professionals," and found this great article. It has good general information about protecting an individual's privacy, a great help if you freelance from home. There is a special section devoted to protecting your privacy as an information professional, which we most definitely are. This includes some free Web sites which will evaluate your security for you. http://www.infotoday.com/searcher/jul00/duberman&beaudet.htm Law Library Research Exchange (LLRX.com), in and of itself a great resource, has a nifty column written by Kathy Biehl, co-author of "The Lawyer's Guide to Internet Research." In November, 2000, she wrote a wonderfully useful column, "Searchable Intellectual Property Databases - Updated." The article describes the free and fee-based databases and provides links. Most of the databases are for the U.S., including some state links and a few cover Canada and Europe. In February, 2001, Biehl wrote the extremely helpful "Business Filings Databases - Updated," with descriptions of and links to state corporate and business filings online databases. Find these and her other ResearchRoundup columns at: http://www.llrx.com/library/#ResearchRoundup For more goodies, check out the LLRX column and feature article archives and the front page of LLRX.com I often see requests for help finding historical stock quotes on PRSPCT-L . So here's another nugget from LLRX to help you out. Jan Bissett, reference librarian with Dickinson Wright PLLC. and Margi Heinen, librarian at Jaffe, Raitt, Heuer & Weiss bring us a fine compilation of resources for finding historical stock information on the Web. http://www.llrx.com/columns/reference20.htm
