TOOLS CONTENTS: GREENBIZ "Green" or sustainable business practices are all the buzz now. Have you been asked to research "green" businesses or explain the sustainability philosophy of a prospect? This site provides information about practices and helps you learn industry-appropriate "greenspeak." There are articles and links to a variety of sustainability topics in both the Business Toolbox (in the central column) and the Resource Wizard (left column). Or use the Site Search, found just under the Resource Wizard. There are other resources available in the Reference Desk and News Center in the central column. If you are interested in a job with a company or organization that advocates these polices, check out the GreenBiz JobLink (I found a job of interest there), or explore "green" careers with the Resource Wizard.
Have you ever been mystified when your computer asks you what software to use to open a document? Be clueless no more! Here's a handy chart that tells you how to open files with those odd little extensions like .tif, .tar, .swp and even the more common .xls, .doc or .zip. (These extensions always remind me of old Batman and Superman comic books and the funny non-words they used to show the bad guys had been hit . . . like "zrmpf!" and "oopf!") The chart is accompanied by links to pages where you can download the software you need to deal with dot-whatever files. Unfortunately, some links are not linked directly to the download page. You may need to explore a little or do a search to find what you need. I found a few broken links. And the software you need may not be free. But at least you will know what you need. Kudos to Carl Clifford for keeping up the good work started by Eric Perlman, Ian Kallen and Internet Literacy Consultants. http://www.stack.com/file/extension/
