About Internet Prospector

WHO WE WERE
The Internet Prospector was produced by a network of volunteers who mine the 'Net for prospect research nuggets. Our findings were published on this Web site and via a monthly electronic newsletter. The newsletter was available through private email subscription and via PRSPCT-L listserv.

Readers found our Web site useful for its Reference Desk and Prospector exclusives, such as the directory of online Locating U.S. Incorporation Records Online, test results of leading search engines and tricks of the trade for foundation searches.

Our audience was primarily non-profit fundraisers. Contributing editors from across the continental U.S. have collaborated on this project since the fall of 1994. Although colleagues online, we never all met in person.

    The Internet Prospector was founded November 1994, organized as a nonprofit corporation under the laws the State of Wyoming in October 1996, and retired in November of 2008. Our history is chronicled here.
