CONTENTS: The Web is rife with political Web sites but what about the current political news and events? Also, there are some wonderful fee-based services that closely watch the Hill but, hey, we all work on a tight budget. Internet Prospector uncovers some free political news sites. Choose an aggregator for a variety of news sources; a site with audio, visual and written analysis of current political events; take a virtual trip south for the political news from some of our neighbors and have it all pushed to your in-box each week. Why surf the Web for the latest political news? Taegan D. Goddard, author and former policy advisor, created Political Wire, an aggregator of a wide range political news. From Political Wire's newsstand pick up the Front Page, the Breaking News or Magazines. Dig into the Archives, take a Quick Read of the major news sources or go straight to the Commentary. Read up on U.S. Politics, State Politics (select from drop down menu), International Affairs, Domestic Affairs, Economic Affairs and the Media. And that isn't all you will find at this site. It has search capabilities, search engines and links to more political pages. RealClearPolitics (RCP) denotes that this site "is designed for people with a passion for politics." Just over a year old, RCP links to commentary and analysis of the most up-to-date political issues. Be aware that it has a self-described conservative bent "to counterbalance the common liberal bias of the mainstream press . . ." RCP keeps current with political news and Congressional updates, as well as political talk shows and polling information. Check what RCP terms as "the most comprehensive list of politics links" on the Internet. Subscribe for updates via email. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/ September 18 launched the new Electorales.com in Colombia. It is partnered with the political news and fundraising site PoliticsOnline.com http://www.politicsonline.com/ Certainly, this is a great news site for politics in select countries of the Americas, but keep your translator handy if your Spanish is rusty. Upon entering the site, select a country for its political news. Use the drop down box to change countries. Electorales.com is a choice country briefing tool, too. It offers background information on the political order of each country, links to legislators' Web sites, to government ministries, political parties and more. Bienvenido a la Red!
