A WORD FROM THE EDITOR

This month, our thoughts are with our friends and colleagues who were battered by September's terrible hurricanes -- Katrina, Ophelia and Rita. Some of our organizations are working directly for the relief effort; others, colleges and universities, are quickly admitting displaced students. Here's hoping October will bring dry weather, rebuilding and a renewed sense of the importance of the work we do every day.
