INTERNATIONAL CONTENTS: This short article from the May 20003 issue of The Guardian orders the wealthiest spots in England based on income. There is a link at the end of the article offering you the chance to download an Excel sheet that lists more than 500 locations, the average salary in each area and salary adjusted for the cost of living. http://www.guardian.co.uk/northsouth/article/0,2763,955965,00.html What an intriguing paper this is for a researcher. We’ll make no judgments as to accuracy, since this is not our research topic-du-jour, but note that the brief references at the end of the article are reassuring. As international researchers know, sometimes the best way to information is circuitous. Review the history of wealth in Burma and meet the wealthy individuals and families profiled in this report from 2000. http://www.mingalaronline.com/websites/burmese_tycoons.htm "The network for financial decision makers" has a thing or two for prospect researchers. First you’ll have to get over the eye hiccup generated by the ticker running at the top of the page. Blink, jump, blink . . . okay, we get it. Let’s go directly to the semi-precious gems here. Scroll down this jumpy site to the People on the Move section, where you will get the "latest job changes for Asia’s financial decision makers." Next use the menu bar at the bottom of the home page to access Company Profiles, which are organized by sector. There are not a lot of listings in each sector, but perhaps you’ll find the one you need. Use the Finance Links from the menu on the right side of the home page to go to stock exchanges, professional associations and other pages that may hold the information you seek. My favorite among the categories turns out to be (surprise, surprise) Research and Data, where I found bpubs.com (a business publications search engine) and business-stat online (interactive trade statistics). And that leaves another 50 or so links to visit and assess later.
