THE EUROPEAN LIBRARY
The European Library searches the contents of the national libraries of Europe. Its robust search tool greets visitors near the top of the home page. Begin searching catalogs from national libraries, digital collections, images, manuscripts and more. Or, as most skilled researchers are apt to do, switch to Advanced Search to select by Title, Creator, Subject or Type with appropriate delimiters. Try the Virtual Keyboard while you are here -- it's fun and would be handy for we who sometimes surf from PDAs.
Other search options include browsing all the collections or browsing collections from specific countries. When I selected Greece, one of the first results returned was a collection of digitized Greek newspapers and periodicals covering 1893 to 1983 (yes, that pair of transposed numbers is correct). Completing the free registration at the site allows you to save sessions and queries with a promised expansion of services for registered users in the future.

RENAISSANCE CAPITAL: IPO HOME
Okay, researchers know the initial public offering market is not what it was in the heyday of the 1990s. But companies still go public. And, surprise, foreign companies go public, too. Renaissance Capital developed a good resource for tracking IPOs, both foreign and domestic. From the menu bar on the left select IPO Data and the menu that opens will allow you to link to the Foreign page (as well as other interesting pages such as Postponed & Withdrawn). The company link gives you type of business, founding year, number of employees, market cap, revenue, net income, contact information and offer price, as well as other IPO data.

TOKYO IPO
Are you watching a Tokyo company go public? Or are you trying to locate information about a company that might've done just that? This could be the resource for you. Tokyo IP tracks the initial public offerings (IPOs) of Tokyo-based companies. The latest IPO news is on the home page. Use the menu bar at the top of the page to see earlier offerings. The IPO Report from that menu is particularly interesting. You will find a brief description of each company. Selecting the link will give you more information, but be prepared to enable your computer to download Japanese characters.
