ESCAPE ARTIST'S WORLDWIDE TELEPHONE BOOK

Yes, this site's name speaks well of its purpose. It's a Web site for people who are looking for ways to escape. Offshore real estate, offshore investing . . . well, we researchers don't need our work made any harder than it is, do we? Let's concentrate on Escape Artist's telephone directory collection. Choose the country from which you are calling and the country where your subject is located. Escape Artist will give you the calling codes and a list of links to Internet phone books available in that region. If you have time for daydreaming after you locate a prospect or two, check out Escape Artist's international real estate pages. Hey, I have dibs on that "Seafront Mansion in Belize."

CANADIAN NEWSPAPERS AND MAGAZINES

I worry that some of the big news sites miss the small newspapers that also have an online presence. My Canadian News gives you the big news resources and links to the small community papers across the provinces and territories, too. Just choose Community Papers and you're on your way.

INTERNETS.COM: CANADIAN DATABASES

Fellow researcher Allan Friedman from York University in Toronto shares news of this valuable resource. You may have forgotten about Internets.com. This Web site offers a smashing collection of Web links that are organized by several categories. The country sort is one of my favorites. Begin on the home page at http://www.internets.com/ and then move to the country section by using the tool bar on the left. Another choice researchers will enjoy is the Business collection. Be sure to review the set of stock exchange links that you'll find there.

Allan directs us to the Canadian page, a great example of what you'll find at many of the country links. News, searchable databases, specialty engines (in this case, a legal search engine and an agricultural engine, for example), a general search feature and a government search are among the options.
