EVERTHING INTERNATIONAL

Great name for a Web site, eh? International researchers are sure to bookmark this resource set up by Dr. Lloyd Russow of Philadelphia University. The professor organized links by a few simple topics, so begin your visit by choosing one. Company & Industry Data, a logical place to start, leads off by giving just what researchers seek, links to annual report sites in Canada, Europe, Japan and the UK. Back at the home page, one of Dr. Russow's News links take us to a meta-news site and also provides links to major news providers. From the home page once again, choose Country & Region Data, then Key Officers, and you'll see links to lists of foreign service people at embassies around the world. Professor Russow's quaint way of sometimes listing sites by number (instead of by name) might frustrate researchers at first, but he provides plenty of narrative to help point you in the right direction.

THE INTERNET PUBLIC LIBRARY'S NEWSPAPER COLLECTION

Have you been to the Internet Public Library lately? When you stop by, be sure to check out the virtual library's collection of newspapers from around the world. The papers are organized by continent or region, or you may access each paper via an alpha sort or a search engine. Like all good libraries, this one tells you what the publication covers and notes the language in which the publication is printed (so be sure to bring a link to a translator with you). You'll find the big newspapers and plenty of small (and terribly interesting) publications.

ASIAPROFILE.COM

For the first time in your life as a researcher, you've found a constituent who is based in Pakistan. Or Malaysia. Or Indonesia. Asiaprofile.com might be your new best friend. Choose the country that interests you from the menu on the left at the home page. The links you'll access will include almost everything you'll need to start researching that constituent. Telephone and business directories as well as news links for the country you've chosen could lead you to the first bits of information that will help you qualify that potential donor. For Pakistan, for example, you'll find links to the Karachi and Lahore Stock Exchanges, yellow pages, import and export directories and Pakistani search engines.
