Imagine the very familiar Yahoo! home page transplantedto Saudi Arabia. Now you have a good picture of Saudia Online. A menu of choices covering news, a companies' directory, Saudi stocks, press releases and other all-facets-of-life links anchor the left side of the home page. The Web site's navigation menu sits at the top of the page and just under that menu bar is a Yahoo!-type directory menu offering Saudi Arabia Web Sites by category (Arts and Humanities, Business and Economy . . . oh, you know them by heart). Scroll down to see the Business Guide (more directory-type organizing), Headline News (nicely separated into Saudi news sources and news from the Foreign Press) and Quick Links (to several things, but newspapers are the most important). Just like Yahoo!'s offerings, there are opportunities here to vote on polls, chat, register for a free e-mail address and generally enhance your Internet life, but now Saudi-style.
You know how you set up stock portfolios to track your prospects' holdings at U.S.-based Web sites like Quicken or Lycos Finance? You can do the same thing at MENAFN with the Middle East and North Africa stocks your prospects hold. Complete the free registration and then set up your own portfolio. Without even registering, you can visit the "My News" page to see the indices, the currency exchange rates and the headline news.
There are two interesting directories at the ICCIM site. Begin your tour with the Member Directory, which provides a fully developed search tool. If you have a prospect to research, you will be delighted to meet this opportunity to do so. If you'd just like to experiment, use the activities lookup feature: Choose an activity type and a country (from among a stunning number) and then review the results returned. You'll get the managing director's name, the company name, and contact information. But don't stop there. Click on the company name and a more detailed profile unfolds, one that includes date established, type of ownership and "capital amount." For your next stop, visit the ICCIM's Links page. There you'll find links to news, government offices, organizations and more. http://www.iccim.org/English/index.htm
