CONTENTS: First, let's go to school. If you aren't using RSS ("Really Simple Syndication") feeds now and you've wondered what all that chatter is about, give Wikipedia's explanation a fast read (and that fast read-style will get you ready for the pace and breadth of news feeds). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_(file_format) Newgie is designed to make access to the RSS feeds you seek rather easy. Its categories are groups of similar feeds and its communities are groups of people with similar interests. Newgie's third group is straight-out news feeds from the bigger feeders. Newgie is proud of what it describes as its unique approach to aggregating the offerings so, if you are into feeds, it may interest you to review Newgie's How it Works page. You can get anywhere from here but, to suit our Internet Prospector beat, let's take a glance at the Regionals group. RSS feeds from Canada, Europe, Asia, the Americas, Australia, the UK and Africa offer those of you who want your international news fast and live a range of choices. There are news feeds for nearly any topic. A few that might interest researchers include general news from several major sources, government news and press releases. Tour the options and remember that some feeds will arrive in the language of origin. http://www.2rss.com/cat2_42.html Feeds2Read has a drill-down directory. Pick News and you enter the world outside your borders in one click. Choices now are Africa, America, Europe, Oceania, Asia, Middle East and World as well as Economy and Business and other general options. Once you pick a category -- say, Europe -- the results returned can be re-ordered by date, URL or language. There is also a Find a Feed search engine.
