North American researchers are accustomed to reviewing salary surveys. It's a good way to get in the ballpark for private company or professional salaries. Here's an interesting tool for doing just the same thing in other locations throughout the world. Overseas Digest has a "free salary expert tool." We might just change that "free" to "fun." Job titles from accountant to yarding engineer combine (at your choice) with locations from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe to generate a simple salary range for that profession in that locale. Information returned even includes a few details about cost of living and provides good source data that you might explore directly. Best yet is that the geographic areas break down from countries to cities for many locales (10 cities in France, for example). What does a CEO in Bonn earn? How about a physician in Paris?
