PROPERTY SHOWROOMS.COM

It's funny to reflect on where your tour of a Web site might begin. Sometimes we use the hammer method, plugging a search term into the box and slamming the "go" button. Other times we amble through the site via the site map or the menu bar planted on the right or left, below the top screen, or even on the bottom of the home page. Property Showrooms.com gives the option of any of these approaches. Use the prominent search boxes on the upper left section of the home page to look for precisely what you are seeking. You'll find options to search by country, property type, price range (in euros), and something called All Categories with the choices of Off Plan or Re-sale.

Next, scroll down to the menu bar on the left or the one at the bottom of the page and select International Property News. There you'll find stories about real estate developments across the globe. Tap into some of Property Showrooms.com's other offerings, such as its country guides and a worldwide network of independent agents and investors. Before you know it, you'll be an expert about real estate in another part of the world.

RBA: BUSINESS INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET

We glanced at RBA nearly five years ago, so a fresh look is long overdue. RBA is a company with a subscriber service but what it offers for free is, well, free-licious. Karen Blakeman, the company principal and the Web site creator, is an information professional based in the UK. She has information sets that international researchers will love. Begin with her collection of company registers from around the world. Karen opens the review with a bit of the story about how to find company registers. She then gives visitors Key Starting Points, or Web pages, covering broader areas than single country-based sites. That is followed by the list of countries organized by continent or region. Some of the links are to Dun & Bradstreet (fee-based) resources; others are to government databases of companies.

Where shall we go next? Let's visit Karen's collection of company financial sites. If that's not enough, she maintains a collection of links to Stock Markets and Mergers and Acquisitions across the globe.

LOWTAX.NET

Lowtax.net was started to gather and share information about off-shore and tax-friendly nations. For countries from Andorra to Vanuatu you'll find a collection of Web resources about that location's tax laws, articles about doing business and, if you are lucky, a synopsis of the tax rate and how the country attracts companies.

For example, the synopsis for Belgium tells us that country has a high tax rate for companies, but gives any entities known as "co-coordination centers" a favorable tax rate. New tax laws established in 2006 also tip the scales in favor of companies. Read all about it at Lowtax.net to learn what your prospects doing business around the world are facing.
