THE LEGAL 500

Access to the content of the Legal 500 begins by region: UK, Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East, North America and Latin America, Caribbean and Africa . Alternatively, you can use the search feature to look for content by firm name or use the drop-down box to start your search by country. The home page includes law firm news and law developments around the world. Other home page features include a patent and trademark attorney search button and a link to other related sites.

Choose the UK or Europe (and then a country) and your next options might include Recommended Law Firms, Who's Who, Size and Fees Tables, In-house Lawyers and other aggregates.

Content varies by firm. At its best, you'll find a firm profile and links to the firm's lawyers and their profiles. Profiles include what we are accustomed to seeing and even a bit more – position, contact information, education, career history and leisure activities. If you are spending more time than you imagined at this site, you'll want to explore the subscription services offered.

FML EXCHANGE

Finance Media created a resource for market news, company profiles, stock quotes and charts and press releases. The press releases and links to stock exchanges from across the globe make this site a useful stop. The FMLX Categories consists of directories by topic or product (Capital Markets, Investments, Quotes, Research and Analysis, to name just a few). When I explored via a specific product, I landed at a collection of news stories that were led by two reports from the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, one of my own daily reads. That's comforting.

Registration is free. The type and extent of the international research you are conducting may make this resource a good tool for you.

LUXURYREALESTATE.COM

I've been deep in philanthropic capacity ratings lately and so I've alit in the realm of real estate as the most common wealth benchmark for researchers. All caveats aside, the work makes me realize that we are at our best when we are well informed about trends and patterns in the locales where our prospects buy real property.

An offering does not a value set, as experienced real estate appraisers will tell you, but we can establish a flavor of the market and catch a glimpse of the higher end where our best prospects reside via a tour of Web sites like LuxuryRealEstate.com. Search by region and then country. Pick your delimiters from a single drop-down list – chateau, condo, waterfront, historic, private islands and others. Choose a minimum and maximum price from $500,000 to $10 million. Not high enough? "No limit" is one of the choices.

The left-side menu bar lists regions under Global, but be sure to stop in at the choices under Search. There you'll find Significant Sales, just the spot for any good researcher. Many of these listings are U.S.-based properties and you'll be delighted to see seven and eight-digit prices. A five-bedroom beach place at Coral Gables , Florida comes in with a $27 million price tag. For those of you who build prospect lists from the unknown and unmet, there may be some research opportunities here.
