INTERNATIONAL CONTENTS:
Auld lang syne, eh?? Here's an old friend who deserves an up-close visit in the new year. Yahoo! Finance has a strong and growing collection of financial resource pages for other locales. Before you jump to the pages for specific countries, check out the address below. You'll see links to a currency converter, international news and world indices. Now, go ahead and jump to finance pages for Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China . . . 22 in all, including Spanish, Chinese and French Canadian-designed pages. Bring your translation tools with you, of course, because the pages are not in English (unless English is the first language in the country you select). Each page mimics the Yahoo! Finance layout you know, but be sure to aggressively tour nonetheless. For example, the annual report link for the Canada page gives researchers the option to download reports about Canadian companies.
The Center for Public Integrity maintains a great resource for researchers looking at oil companies. The Center's directory of private and public oil companies across the globe briefly outlines each company with contact information (address and telephone, Web site, and ticker symbol), the name of the chief officer(s) and a sentence or two about the direction or mission of the company at this moment. Financials are provided when available. For U.S. companies, you may also see information about campaign contributions, lobbying and tax havens. http://www.publicintegrity.org/oil/list.aspx Financial Director is a UK-based accountancy publication. The newest version of FD's salary survey of financial directors is out and includes regular and novel segmentations. Women FDs, Old Timers, the big bonus group and the "bust bonuses," or those whose didn't get bonuses are a few of the dissections of the compensation information from 3,500 companies and 45,000 financial directors in Europe and the U.S. Company information is provided by BoardEx and analyzed by FD. Bring your currency converter along with you since all numbers are in pounds, not U.S. dollars. http://www.financialdirector.co.uk/ Go directly to FD's salary survey: http://images.vnunet.com/bif_static/pdf/fd_salary_survey_2004.pdf Tuck this one away in your toolbox. It converts you-name-it (dollars, yens, pounds, francs, kroners, tolars, crowns and more) to euros. http://www.sysmod.com/eurocalc/eurocalc.php
