CONTENTS: Billing itself as "your Asian Pacific business strategy e-zine," Asia Pacific Management Forum (APMF) provides more information about business in that region of the world than you'll be able to review. I'll highlight a couple of the resources and leave you to discover others during your own visit to the site. Your first stop should be the Asia Pacific news resources gathered here. You'll find headlines and links to articles from various publications organized by resource and by region. Scrolling headlines located mid-page certainly will tempt you to peruse an article or two. The direct link to the news collection is http://www.apmforum.com/asiaportal.htm By the way, are you researching a buzhang or a zong jingli? One of the most valuable resources on the APMF Web site is Boye Lafayette De Mente's monthly column called Asian Business Codewords." The April 2002 article was called "Touxian -- The Importance of Titles." After giving the reader a bit of history and context, Boye lists the most common professional titles. You'll find your zong jingli there. See Boye's article about titles at http://www.apmforum.com/columns/boye50.htm To see Boye's articles for the last year, go to http://www.apmforum.com/columns/boye.htm Other APMF topics and columnists may interest you. First published during the summer of 2002, the quarterly Wealth Management magazine covers the important topics. Students of wealth (that's what prospect researchers are) will enjoy reading an interview with UBS Private Banking CEO Georges Gagnebin or learning about China's new entrepreneurs. After filling out a brief registration form, you can access these and other articles. While you are on the Asia Money site, be sure to visit other resources such as the Deal Diary and news and links by region (at the bottom of the home page). http://www.asiamoney.com/contents/publications/asiamoney/index.html International business consulting firm Runckel & Associates established this collection of valuable tools for those doing business (or researching business) in Asia. Links to articles about protocol, legal and governmental issues and more, as well as links by country and region make this a well-organized and appealing resource. When you choose a country from the menu bar near the top of the page, you will get links to "first contacts" (governments and embassies, for example), a country profile (including key information such as holidays, time and exchange rates), a research link and articles and tips for planning your trip to the region (should your nonprofit decide that it's more efficient to simply send you there). http://www.business-in-asia.com/
