CONTENTS: Let's chat, okay? Let's chat about real estate. The philanthropic capacity for many of your prospects is based primarily on their real estate holdings. We'd better get the value of real estate as close to right as we can. RealEstateTalks might just be the help you are seeking if you have Canadian (or U.S.) prospects. With more than 15,000 registered users, there are plenty of people e-meeting here to chat about real estate. News about real estate is posted regularly ("all day, every day") -- that might be just the help you wanted. But there's more. Real estate discussions at the site are divided into U.S. states and Canada's provinces. You can find real people -- many who are deeply interested in real estate -- to address your specific real estate questions. Okay, chat over. http://www.realestatetalks.com/ First the sad news: There is no Zillow for Canada yet. What can researchers with Canadian prospects use instead to approximate market value? Some suggest Waka as the answer for the time being. Waka is a search engine that began in Quebec and now includes Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta. If you really want to keep your finger on the pulse, sign up for one of Waka's RSS feeds. You'll then get the 30 latest listings for homes for sale in the area you choose. This REM doesn't refer to Rapid Eye Movement, you psych majors. This REM is Real Estate Marketing, "Canada's premier business publication for the real estate industry." Visit REM to learn that Canadian home values will double in the next 20 years, farmland values are up 2.5 percent and real estate revenues rose 10 percent in 2005. One intriguing article reviews how executive homes in Canada stack up against the homes of executives in other parts of the world. The Century 21 study ranks the top 10 downtown housing markets worldwide by overall price as well as by price per square foot. There are many more real estate gems in the deep collection of articles and studies located here.
