     This Canadian Foundation supports programs in: 

      - Biodiversity in Forest-Dominated Ecosystems
      - Information Technology in Health Care
      - General Program

     The latter encompasses "projects in health care, education, 
     social services, the environment and arts and culture." 

     Grant range: $5,000-500,000.

THE LAWSON FOUNDATION
     Another Canadian philanthropy, the Lawson Foundation's
     programs include: 

     THE BEGINNING YEARS: language and cognitive
     development  in young children (0-4 years) and pre-natal care.

     HEALTHY COMMUNITIES: community-based,
     patient-centered care in three areas -- for cancer, diabetes,
     substance abuse. 

     Two other programs, Special Granting and Grant Advising, are
     not open for general application.
