AFTER SCHOOL FOR ALL

Boston's After-School for All Partnership grew out of the vision and leadership of Mayor Thomas M. Menino and the work of his Boston 2:00-to-6:00 After-School Initiative and the Mayor's Task Force on After-School Time. In 2001, the partnership committed $24.1 million in new resources over a five-year period to strengthen Boston's out-of-school-time system.

A funding directory lists specific funding opportunities and application requirements for grants from partnership organizations that include, for example, the Boston Foundation, the Hyams Foundation, Inc., the Nellie Mae Education Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Additional grant opportunities from organizations outside of the partnership are included in the After-School Resources section.

ROYAL BANK OF CANADA (RBC) FOUNDATION

In 1999, RBC convened an advisory panel of education experts from across Canada to help focus RBC's funding on programs that help keep kids in school. Over the last five years, RBC has provided more than $7 million in grants to community-based after-school programs that offer learning and skill development opportunities to youth in the hours after classes end.

RBC subsidiaries in the U.S. partner with 501(c)3 organizations. Requests for funding from U.S. nonprofits are considered throughout the year.

Organizations can normally expect to receive a response within 90 days. RBC subsidiaries operating in the U.S. are RBC Centura, RBC Rain Dauscher and RBC Liberty Insurance.
