THE GLASNOST DEFENSE FOUNDATION (GDF)

GDF provides legal support and advocacy to mass media in Russia. Established in Moscow in 1991, the GDF has founded and supported 10 regional legal defense centers around Russia. Staffed by lawyers and other professionals, the centers conduct day-to-day monitoring of media rights abuses. GDF has worked with and/or received grants from the Ford Foundation, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the National Endowment for Democracy, the Eurasia Foundation, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Know How Foundation, the Open Society Institute, the World Press Freedom Committee and the governments of Switzerland, Great Britain and Canada.

THE PRIME POINT FOUNDATION (PPF)

PPF was established in December 1999 by K. Srinivasan, the managing director of Prime Point Publications in Madras, India. PPF seeks to create public relations and communication awareness among management students, corporate officers in the public and private sectors and politicians. PPF also provides workshops and panel discussions on the value of the Internet and new media for public relations practitioners, journalists and other communicators. THE WHALEQUEST FOUNDATION (WQF)

WQF is a nonprofit organization created from the need to preserve and protect the humpback whales and the marine environment of Tonga. WQF also strives to make available information and history of the humpback whales and the marine life of Tonga to the public and visitors in Vava'u and to develop education, research and employment skills for the Tongan people. WQF supports a Humpback Whale and Marine Discovery Center and offers six- to nine-day expeditions in Tonga during the humpback mating and breeding season. Participants assist experts with collecting research data on whale behavior above and below the water's surface.
