Established in 1955 by John and Josephine Connelly, CF seeks to enhance the quality of life in Philadelphia. John Connelly served for many years as chairman of Crown Cork & Seal Company, Inc., an international manufacturer of cans, crowns and machinery with headquarters in Philadelphia. More than 50 percent of CF's funding is directed each year to organizations affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church or toward programs that impact its members. Upon John Connelly's death in 1990, Josephine Connelly succeeded her husband as chairwoman of the Foundation until her death in 1999. In 1976, Pope Paul VI graciously conferred upon Mrs. Connelly the pontifical honor of the Cross, Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice, for her outstanding contributions as a perpetual activist in the work of the church. http://www.connellyfdn.org/about.html
Established in 1991, the mission of the Albert & Bessie Mae Kronkosky Charitable Foundation is to produce profound good that is tangible and measurable in Bandera, Bexar, Comal and Kendall counties in Texas. In the most recent annual report, KCF reported assets of $294,998,137 and gave grants totaling $16,951,916. KCF received its principal funding of $295 million as a distribution from the estate of Mr. Albert Kronkosky, Jr. in August 1997. Over the years, the family involved itself in a number of successful local business ventures. These included the Gebhardt Chili Powder Company and the San Antonio Drug Company. The PSFA, a non-profit in Daytona Beach, Florida, was Established in January 2002 by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials International (APCO). The PSFA's mission is to provide funding and technical support to public safety answering points (PSAPs) and to local emergency response officials that would enable the implementation of wireless-enhanced 911 services. In PSFA's initial round of funding, nearly $2.4 million was awarded to 29 grantees in 20 states. In the second round of funding (applications due July 3, 2003), PSFA will award $3 million in grants for enhanced 911 implementation.
