ACUMEN FUND

The Acumen Fund (AF) is a nonprofit enterprise focused on improving the lives of the poor around the world. AF supports the development of new healthcare technologies in Asia and Africa, the growth of scalable, market-based enterprises focused on expanding opportunity in the Muslim world, and the encouragement of innovative projects that make safe and sufficient water accessible to the poor. A quarterly newsletter and enlightening stories from the field add value to this site.

VENTURE FOR FUNDRAISING (VFR)

With headquarters in Manila, Philippines, VFR has served more than 300 Philippine and Asian nonprofit organizations since its inception in 1999. VFR recently published the results of a study on giving and fundraising involving Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan and Thailand, and conducted a comparative study on giving in India, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand that was supported by USAID, the Nippon Foundation and the Asian Development Bank, through the Asia Foundation.

VFR supports “Pay It Forward,” a scholarship program for qualifying non-governmental organizations. It asks for a further commitment from the scholarship recipient to sponsor another organization a year after it has obtained the scholarship. A helpful collection of links to non-governmental organizations operating in the Philippines and in Asia is provided along with links to fundraising news in the Philippines.
