SAMUEL AND SAIDYE BRONFMAN FAMILY FOUNDATION

The Bronfman Family Foundation is one of Canada's major private granting foundations. Established in 1952 as a vehicle for joint family giving, the Foundation embodies the philanthropic commitment of its founders and first directors: Samuel Bronfman, a leading industrialist (builder of Seagram Liquors); his wife, Saidye Rosner Bronfman; and their children, Minda, Phyllis, Edgar and Charles. Samuel and Saidye's daughter, Phyllis Lambert, serves as honorary president of her family's foundation and also founded and directs the Canadian Centre for Architects in Montreal (CCA), a leading museum and study center devoted to architecture. Other Bronfman Family foundations include The Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies and the Charles Rosner Bronfman Foundation.

WAITT FAMILY FOUNDATION

The Waitt Family Foundation was established in 1993 by Ted and Joan Waitt as a vehicle for "helping good people do great things" and is today headquartered in La Jolla, California. Originally based in North Sioux City, South Dakota, the foundation continues to maintain a strong presence in the 'Siouxland,' which encompasses parts of Iowa, South Dakota and Nebraska. In 1985, Ted Waitt started Gateway Computers in a small South Dakota farmhouse once used by his father, Norman Waitt, Sr. In keeping with the values installed by Waitt's father, his family foundation seeks to: Empower Communities - enhance the capacity of communities to promote positive social change supportive of families; Leverage Partnerships - partner with projects that show promise and are widely applicable; and Communicate Ideas - help in the dissemination of new ideas to communities and families that will help them plan in the present for a better future.
