MILKEN FAMILY FOUNDATION

Wall Street's Michael Milken is the co-founder of the Milken Family Foundation. The purpose of the foundation is to discover and advance inventive and effective ways of helping people help themselves. It pursues this mission primarily through its work in education and medical research.

Although much of the foundation's funding is directed toward its own initiatives, the foundation does accept applications for funding from outside organizations. Last year, five Arizona public schools received $500,000 grants from the Milken Family Foundation to create a "Master Teacher" program.
