I am pleased to serve as the editor for the Internet Prospector 's Foundations section. For my debut, I am claiming editorial privilege and highlighting some of the fine work being done by numerous organizations south of the equator. DREAMS CAN BE FOUNDATION

Founded in 2000 to benefit street kids throughout Brasil, Dreams Can Be Foundation (DCBF) is a U.S. nonprofit charitable supporting organization and a Brasilian NGO (nongovernmental organization). Working in partnership with grassroots organizations and community-based groups to improve processes, DCBF serves several thousand children and at-risk youth throughout Brasil's favelas (urban slums). Some of its major program support includes circus arts training in partnership with Cirque du Soleil and Pensando Alto (Thinking Big), a child sponsorship program that delivers education, healthcare, juvenile justice advocacy, and where possible, family reunification.

BRAZIL FOUNDATION

In the scant five years since the Brazil Foundation was founded, they have given millions of dollars to a wide variety of nonprofits in Brasil. Headquartered in New York, its board of directors and its advisors have become major change agents to advance social justice throughout Brasil. Last year, nearly two dozen non-profits shared almost a quarter-million dollars in grants made by the Brazil Foundation.

REVISTA FILANTROPIA

This is Brasil's version of the Chronicle of Philanthropy, filled with news and information regarding Brasil's third sector. Updated monthly, it is a valuable communication tool for those working in the nonprofit arena. Most of the site is in Portuguese, but numerous portions translate well using your favorite localization software.
