Foundations GrantsThough the foundations listed here are few -- only four -- this network
promises to be the European counterpart to the Foundation Center. Moreover,
ARIES plans to develop another web site to put grantmaker information online.
An ambitious task! According to ARIES, 80,000 foundations dot the new European
landscape.

a strong Asian studies emphasis in the humanities or the social sciences.
With good reason. Based in Taiwan, the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation's
mission is to advance studies in Chinese culture and society. Their
web literature states:
The Foundation's principal work is to award grants, as approved by the
Board of Directors, to specific institutions and individuals. Grants are
available under such categories as institutional enhancement, research,
conference and seminars, and subsidies for publication. There are also
fellowships available for graduate students, and post-doctoral research.
Since its establishment, the Foundation has aided research institutes and
university presses, as well as national museums all over the world. Their
broad program guidelines make this foundation a strong prospect for support
at the departmental, school or institutional level. For more details, visit:

two countries and whose assets are primarily held in these countries. You
may search by charity name or by locality. A search will return the purpose
of the charity, the year it was established, contact information and area
of operation. The Registry of Charities was established in late 1997, and
during 1998, the overseers plan to add income information to the records.
