Google Grants is a unique program that offers nonprofits free AdWords advertising on Google. Google wants to raise awareness and increase traffic for organizations that share its philosophy of "community service to help the world" in areas such as science and technology, education, global public health, the environment, youth advocacy and the arts. Each organization receives at least three months of in-kind advertising. Read about the impressive results! Grant recipients are selected every quarter.
Kroger Co. supports charitable activities in the communities where Kroger customers live and work. Foundation supports education, feed-the-hungry programs, cancer initiatives and local grassroots organizations with a strong base of community support. It supports small, grassroots activist organizations with provocative direct-action agendas, working on multi-pronged campaigns to preserve and protect our environment. Patagonia looks for innovative groups that produce measurable results, and likes to support efforts that "force the government to abide by its own -- our own -- laws." Grants are available to nonprofit organizations such as running clubs; parks, trails and recreation departments; athletics programs and sports leagues. Grants range from $1,000 to $25,000. The WHO Foundation addresses health, education and wellness concerns, specifically the overlooked needs of women and children in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Organizations must have been incorporated at least three years prior to applying for a grant. Deadline: September 12, 2006. The Six Points Fellowship supports individual artists in the New York area who want to develop new projects with a Jewish focus, theme or element. The program will accept artists working in visual arts, music and performing arts. Artists must be between the ages of 22 and 39, and a resident of the New York City area for at least one year prior to the start of the fellowship. During the two-year fellowship, artists will create and present their projects to young audiences in the New York area. The fellowship term begins in January 2007. Deadline: Applications must be postmarked by August 31, 2006. http://www.sixpointsfellowship.org The Open Society Institute's Middle East/North Africa Initiatives program (MENA) welcomes grant proposals from organizations around the world. It supports projects that foster freedom of expression, access to information, women's rights, development of the rule of law, and local governmental and educational reforms in the Middle East. Preference is given to local organizations in the region, or to initiatives that partner local and foreign organizations' expertise. George Soros is founder and chairman of the Open Society Institute and the Soros foundations network. Next deadline: September 11, 2006.
