The Alcan Prize for Sustainability is one of the world's most significant privately funded prizes. One prize of $1 million is awarded annually to recognize organizations that demonstrate a comprehensive approach to addressing, achieving and further advancing economic, environmental and/or social sustainability. In addition, Alcan Grants of $15,000 are awarded to nine other organizations, specifically to invest in certifiable training and capacity building for the organization. Alcan Inc. partners with The Prince of Wales International Business Leaders Forum (IBLF) to offer the prize. The AGM Diversity Fellowship Program is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of philanthropic leaders among people of color by offering support to a select group of "passionate, emerging professionals." The program is focused on increasing the number and proportions of people of color as staff and executives in the field of philanthropy. Participants are required to commit to the program full time (no other jobs) between September and June, and must attend weekly group activities in Boston. Deadline: April 12, 2007. The goal of the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade is to improve access to quality breast health care for underserved, uninsured and low-income populations, and to support biomedical research focused on prevention and improved methods of diagnosis and treatment. This program supports the professional development of senior state and local government officials and nonprofit leaders committed to affordable housing in the United States. It is intended to enhance the management and decision-making skills of accomplished leaders experienced in managing housing and community development programs. The program is taught by faculty from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. Deadline to be considered for a Fannie Mae Foundation Fellowship: March 30, 2007. The Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF) is accepting applications for its two Grants for Kids programs: Learning Links Education Grants and Summertime Kids Grants. Grants are for up to $1,000 to schools and nonprofit organizations for special projects that provide creative learning experiences for children.
