PAUL & DAISY SOROS FELLOWSHIPS FOR NEW AMERICANS

AND
MEXICAN AMERICAN LEGAL DEFENSE AND EDUCATIONAL FUND (MALDEF)

I set out to review the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's site, but stumbled across so many outdated links in their Resources section, I decided to save you the frustration and mention just a couple of the good sites.

One is the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans, with a fast-approaching November 1 deadline. The fellowships provide opportunities for "able and accomplished New Americans to achieve leadership in their chosen fields."

Another is MALDEF, the site for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, which sponsors $1,000 to $3,000 Law School Scholarships, and the Ellen and Federico Jimenez Scholarship, available next year to qualified Latino students.

Verizon Communications heads the list as a stellar workplace for Latina women, followed by American Airlines, Citigroup, Colgate-Palmolive, Fannie Mae, General Mills, IBM, JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, New York Life, SBC Communications and Wachovia Corporation.

WORKING MOTHERS 100 BEST COMPANIES LIST-2003
