CONTENTS: These are the folks who publish GIVING USA, the bible of charitable contributions in the U.S. (The 2001 issue has figures for year 2000.) New issues come out in May of each year. If you missed it, you'll want to read their May 23 press release titled, "Total Giving Reaches $203.45 Billion as Charitable Giving Contributions Increase 6.6 % in 2000." http://www.aafrc.org/press3.html Corporate giving (including grants made by corporate foundations) increased by 12.1% in 2001, which is still just 5.3% of all contributions. Foundations were responsible for 12%, bequests made up 7.8% and individuals, 75%. (Don't forget that individuals make the decisions for corporate and foundation funding, too.) Two charts are printable, showing contributions by source and by recipient. http://www.aafrc.org/trust/charts.html Other charts, transparencies, disks and publications are available for purchase. Additional features on the site include How to Choose (Fundraising) Council and AAFRC Membership Standards. Find lots of interesting business news and tools, one of the best being the Salary Wizard, powered by Salary.com. Select a job category and a metro area and find the current salary there for most positions -- helpful for researchers who need to make an educated guess about the salary of an individual. Compare these figures to national averages and find links to many other salary surveys. In the left margin are links to Business Departments and Special Packages, some for job hunters. For fun, read about (and share) your Interview Nightmares. http://business.netscape.com/business/research/main.tmpl Give.org is the site for the BBB Wise Giving Alliance, created with the 2001 merger of the National Charities Information Bureau and the Council of Better Business Bureaus Foundation. Check their Tips on Giving page, written for prospective donors: http://www.give.org/tips/index.asp
