      WORKING SMART: ATLANTA BUSINESS CHRONICLE

What determines success? Read this short article for some quick inspiration if you are trying to define success for yourself. Answering these questions might help shape one's career course:

      * What do I want to do?
      * What do I want to be?
      * What do I want to see?
      * What do I want to have?

Some behaviors that contribute to success:

an attitude of confident expectation, learning from top performers, committing and focusing, anticipating competition, persevering and "doing it now."

      BUSINESSWEEK ONLINE

BusinessWeek.com maintains a helpful set of business tools, along with their more famous features, such as the college rankings (this month has the latest B-school rankings).

The Business Owner's Toolkit has documents and templates helpful for work and home use: sample letters, policies and contracts. The sample independent contractor agreement might be used for hiring freelance researchers.

On their Small Business page, find 16 million records in D&B's database, searchable by executive or company name, address, state, industry and more.

Other good resources found here include: the Capital Gains Calculator, Your Portfolio (good for tracking the health of your own portfolio of companies) and the link titled Salary Surveys.

Look for a special feature on salary surveys and compensation issues in the Internet Prospector's August 2000 edition.

      UNIVERSITYANGELS.COM

An interesting article in Business Week (and one that may be in the archives by the time you see this) details the growth of a group called UniversityAngels.com.

Founded by three Harvard Business School grads, the group enables students and alumni from top universities to help each other in matching new entrepreneurs with investors (also known as angels).
