CORPTECH
Corptech maintains a database of 45,000 high-tech companies, and offers profiles in standard or extended format. There are
many free services, as well as small charges for some profiles and other information products. Members can build telemarketing
and mailing lists from this site and can access Top 20 lists in 155 categories. One of the free services is a People Finder, with
over 170,000 top-level executives of high-tech companies. A word of warning, however: Names apparently must be very
specific. When I searched for "Bill Gates," the only match was with a Bill Gates in North Carolina. Microsoft's Bill would only
appear with a search for William Gates, which then retrieved "William H. Gates III." An "alternative name" feature would be
nice in this case. Otherwise, CorpTech is a super site for corporate research purposes.

WEB 100

Online: the 100 largest U.S. corporations on the Web (ranked by revenue) and the 100 largest international companies. U.S. News reports the 1997 rankings of America's Best Hospitals. This year 1,800 hospitals were evaluated and ranked by quality. Included are the 135 hospitals with the highest scores in 17 specialties. Under Web Links find listings of accredited hospitals and HMOs, as well as Go Ask Alice -- a digital nurse.
