SETTING UP A RESEARCHER'S STOCK PORTFOLIO
You can track the performance of stocks of interest to your development office by setting up a stock portfolio at NETworth by Galt Technologies at http://www.quicken.com/ I chose to track 52-week high and low, last trade, change, close and current value as well as the market where the stock is trading in my portfolio. There is other trackable information from which to choose when you create and modify your own portfolio. To set up your own customized portfolio, begin by registering for this free service. Use the ticker identifier on the home page to find the ticker names for the stocks you'll track. Click on Personal Portfolio and begin to build your own portfolio by choosing the type of information you wish to retrieve on the portfolio data entry page. Next enter each ticker name. For investment/cost basis and number of shares, I entered dummy figures of $10.00 and 1.0 share respectively for each stock since total investment isn't applicable for this purpose. I chose, for display order, to put the stocks in alphabetical order since they are then easier to locate on the table. You will be able to track up to 50 stocks. You can add or delete stocks or change the type of information you are retrieving by using the Personal Portfolio Action box below your portfolio. I set up my portfolio after asking my development officers which stocks they would like to track. I then gave them the name and password so they can monitor performance of the stocks they chose on their own. This has been a useful tool for staying in touch with dramatic performance changes of several stocks. I hope that the portfolio helps development officers choose the right time for an ask.
