In September, the Atlanta Business Chronicle published a list of the wealthiest people in Atlanta and in the state of Georgia. Quick: Who's No. 1? If you didn't guess Ted Turner, you definitely need to take a look at this site. And, even if you did, you might be interested to know who is No. 2, No. 3, and so on. This year's list names 98 Georgians who are worth $25 million or more -- the "two-comma" wealth bracket, as they say. Public fortunes only, such as those derived from Home Depot or Coca-Cola, are counted. You'll have to do your own digging to find info on those who earn their money in private. http://www.amcity.com/atlanta/stories/1999/09/13/focus.html The Sunday Times of London has completed its 11th annual survey listing the wealthiest 1000 people or families in Britain. Sports stars, Spice Girls (well, only Posh), bankers and executives, cosmetics tycoon Paloma Picasso, dancer Michael Flatley, entertainers Phil Collins, Eric Clapton, Sean Connery and Sir Paul McCartney, and even a Teletubbies producer are included in the list. In addition, there are listings of the 100 richest in Scotland and in Ireland and charts showing the biggest winners -- and the biggest losers. You can follow the top 10 over the years (and back to 1799!) or break out the list by geographic region. You can also search alphabetically by last name. To access The Sunday Times Rich List, choose Library from near the top of the The Times Web site listed below. At Library, choose No. 2, InfoTimes. Scroll down the InfoTimes selections and choose Rich List. http://www.sunday-times.co.uk/
Canada's wealthiest entrepreneurs are each worth at least $250 million and, if that's not enough to get your attention, what will? This site provides net worth estimates and detailed bios on 10 very wealthy Canadian guys. One frustration: Though the story was published by Industry Canada in October, 1999, it looks as though it was written in December of 1995. An update would be appreciated, eh? http://strategis.ic.gc.ca/SSG/mi02042e.html
