BUSINESS 2.0

Business 2.0, which was reviewed in Internet Prospector for Corporations in September 2001, also has an excellent People page, featuring links to articles about hundreds of business leaders, arranged alphabetically, by industry or by region. Oddly, the region search offered only Asia, India, Israel and Ireland. Otherwise, stick to the alpha or industry lists and you may find a great deal of the information you are seeking.

Click on Search for People and you will be led to links to Biography.Com, the Dead People Server, Edgar Online People and other good biographical resources.

The People page also links to many other Internet sites, such as Business Week's Top 25 Managers, Forbes' people lists, the Chronicle of Philanthropy's Most Generous Donors and other great sites, two of which are detailed below.

P.S. For a humorous look at recent news, don't miss The 101 Dumbest Moments in Business list, from April 2002.

CNET NEWS.COM CEO WEALTH METER

If you're tracking the ups and downs of a CEO's stock holdings in a public company, you may want to keep CNET's CEO Wealth Meter open at all times. This Web site shows the stock holdings of public company CEOs in real time, listed alpha by ticker symbol. A name or company search would be helpful but, alas, is not available.

Click on the CEO's name for a link to a chart showing salary, bonus, other compensation and options. Click on the ticker symbol for a detailed stock quote.

The top five gainers and bottom five losers are updated daily. (I'm sure we'd all be thrilled to pieces to find prospects who have half of what Jeffrey Bezos has been losing lately!)

THEY RULE

You need Flash 5 to view They Rule, and it takes a while to get the hang of the site, but it's worth the trouble. The webs you weave will be fascinating and you may discover important new connections.

Click on Add Company and choose a company from the scrolling list. A desk will appear; click on the plus sign and click on Expand for the members of that board. Click on each person's briefcase, select Expand again (if available) to see what other boards the person serves on.

Click on Donations to open a link to the Center for Responsive Politics database for a search on the person's campaign contributions. Click on Search to run a Google search on the person.

Or click on Load Map for a list of the most requested maps, including Pepsi Vs. Coke, 7 Most Powerful and Old Girls Network.

You can click and drag the people around to help make your maps more clear. Note: some people are larger than others. I'm thinking that the larger the figure, the more boards the person serves on.
