Under The Latest Presidential Numbers, look
for the
current presidential candidates and see how
much they've
raised, how much they've spent and how much
they have left.
How much of their funding is from individuals
and how much
from PACs (Political Action Committees)?
Find out here.
In Politician Profiles, you can find the same
information
about members of Congress and candidates in
the 1998
elections. Click on The Personal is
Political because
you'll definitely want to take a look at Personal
Financial
Disclosure Reports. This year's filing
(1998 finances,
filed in 1999) is available for all members
of Congress
except the handful who were granted extensions.
You will be
able to download a pdf file (you need Adobe
Acrobat)
containing detailed (well, within certain
ranges)
information about politicans' personal finances.
Don't overlook the tabs at the top of each
page. Donor
Lookup takes you to a database of over a million
names.
Look up a suspected political donor and see
how much they
gave and to whom. Use the Databases
tab to access a PAC
search, soft money database, President Clinton's
Legal
Defense Trust, and even a 1996 White House
Coffee and
Sleepover Database.

Scroll down the page and look to the left for
a link
to the Mayoral Elections Database. You
can search for
a 1999 winning candidate by city, state, party
or name.
However, the only information provided here
is the
percentage of the vote won and the month of
the election.
More information can be found if you move down
to the
bottom of the page and look for the blue sign
that
reads Meet the Mayors. Follow this link
to Mayors
at a Glance. This will lead you to a
search on the
mayor's last name, city, state, or the city
population.
You'll find a page with the mayor's photo,
phone number
and email address, as well as a link to the
mayor's city
Web site.
Also available are articles and information
about local
government initiatives and other issues.
