WEBER SHANDWICK CEO DEPARTURES STUDYIn a study of global Fortune 500 companies, the public relations firm Weber Shandwick has found that CEO turnover has risen 10 percent in the past year. Citing "stagnant markets, fierce competition and a complex business environment," the firm concludes that "as CEOs receive most of the credit when things go right, they are expected to accept the majority of the blame when things go wrong." And, as we know, things have been going very wrong as of late. Study these trends by region (Asian-Pacific CEOs have the highest rate of turnover) or by quarter. The numbers also show statistics for CEOs who were euphemistically "Ousted Against Their Will" (North American CEOs had the highest rate).
