GOOGLE PHONEBOOK

Once upon a time, we had to go to the library to look up a phone number or address in another city. We had to wrestle big, fat phone books or fidget with microfilms to find what we needed. Or we had to spend some of our organization's hard-earned money to call Information.

The Internet has made directory information easily accessible, fast and free. And if Google hasn't done enough for you already, it has now added a very fast, very easy phone book to its growing list of features.

Simply type into the Google search window:

rphonebook: name city (for residential listings) or
bphonebook: name city (for business listings)

In a millisecond, your listing appears, with links to Yahoo! Maps and Mapquest right there at hand.

You may type in the state but it's optional. You may also try typing in an area code or zip code along with the name. Or just type in an address or phone number, and see what happens. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

THOROUGHBRED OWNERS AND BREEDERS ASSOCIATION

The Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA) provides services for its individual and state association members and represents the interests of its members at the industry's policymaking level. TOBA bills itself as "North America's most influential and active organization for thoroughbred owners and breeders."

You won't find any biographical details at this site, but if you're wondering if your prospect is in the horse business, this may be a good starting point. Members (names only) are listed by state or country.

Click on Ownership to find out some of the levels of investment your prospect may be involved in, ranging from $1,000 for a partnership in an inexpensive horse to $100,000 and up for sole ownership.
