In February, we featured a Womenswire page that profiled women in high-tech industries. This month, we'll look at Womenswire's Women.com 30 index, which tracks the stocks of public companies run by women. The companies range from brand new high-tech firms, to old established companies like Mattel and Sotheby’s. Click on Meet the Execs to read bios of the women who head these companies, including Meg Whitman of eBay and Jill Barad, former head of Mattel.
Women’s Gateway, a Japanese Web site, features a listing of women CEOs in Japan, the U.S. and China, sorted alpha, by location, or by company sales. In-depth profiles show career histories, company information and photos. This is a collection of CEOs who have registered with the site, so it’s not an independent compilation of top execs. Still, good information can be found here for those looking to Asia for top prospects. There is also a list of speakers and writers in Japan and China.
The Women.future conference on April 5 bills itself as “the mother of all business events.” Well, since this conference is focused specifically on women, that tired old phrase finally seems accurate. The conference, which will be distributed via global satellite in hundreds of local theaters, university auditoriums and corporate headquarters, will feature experts in the fields of business, finance, media and health. Biographies of the speakers, including CNN Chief International Correspondent Christiane Amanpour, Staples founder Myra Hart, catalog pioneer Lilian Vernon and actress Goldie Hawn, can be found at their Web site. A good site for info on some of the world's most respected women in their fields. Hey, I found one of “my” prospects listed there!
