FREE OBITUARIES ON-LINE

This may not be the most beautiful or friendly Web site (some of the links are old and the attitude is a bit cranky), but hey, you get what you pay for. And since we’re all looking for free information, I’m not going to be too picky about this site, which brings together links to hundreds of free obituary sites worldwide.

Click on a state for links to local newspapers that provide obituaries online. Or scroll down to visit Cyndi’s List of Obituaries, the Genealogy Gateway Newspaper Obituary Search, Legacy.com Obits and other obituary and memorial sites.

Even an experienced researcher is sure to find a new site to explore.

IHT ONLINE: 2004: MILLIONAIRES ARE BACK IN STYLE

Last year, the number of North American high-net-worth investors dropped 1.9 percent and their wealth dropped 2.1 percent. However, according to the International Herald Tribune Online (IHT), millionaires are back in style around the world. Perhaps not as young or high-flying as their 1990s forerunners, 2004’s wealthiest are making money in the global economy. Projections for next summer indicate that the number of millionaires and their assets will be up 6 percent.

Find out how they’re making their money and more projections for the future at:

TIMES ONLINE: WHO’S WHO 2004

In January, The Times Online previewed the names of Great Britain’s new honorees in its Who’s Who 2004. Listings are sorted by profession. Scroll down the page and click on a category, then scroll through the profiles. If you want to search for a specific name, don’t try the search box in the upper left of the page. It searches only the last seven days. For better results, use your favorite search engine’s domain search. For example, using Google, enter: site:www.timesonline.co.uk “LastName FirstName” or use the Advanced Search page.

Click on Take a Look at Me Now for a cheeky review of the social nuances that attend inclusion in Who’s Who. Click on The New British Elite links for details on the up-and-comers in State, Law, Academia and Business.
