According to the Web site of the Women's Business Enterprise National Council, women-owned businesses employ more than 18.5 million people and generate close to $2.3 trillion in sales. The Council, an advocate of women-owned businesses, annually celebrates the contributions of women's business enterprises (WBEs) with a gala black-tie event.
